摘要

The use of fly ash, as a stabilizer for the subbase material produced from acentral mixing plant, was proposed by the Shawnee County Engineer. Later, KDOT engineers took over implementation of the research project. The proposal was seen as an opportunity to test locally available Class C fly ash from the Jeffrey Energy Center, 30 miles northwest of Topeka, Kansas. Tentative construction guidelines were established by the project consultants and the county engineer using previous KDOT specifications for a plant mixed stabilized base. The minimum compressive strength of the stabilized base was specified to be 400 psi after seven days.
