摘要

The miniature dielectric-filled open-ended waveguide antenna is introduced as anovel type of radiating element. Comparison with microstrip antennas explains why this element is named Microstrip-Like Antenna (MLA). Its low height and minature structure is rarely found in publications. A literature investigation shows that the research on conventional waveguide antennas does not cover this specific configuration. The aperture characteristics in particule are not yet fully understood regarding reflected and radiated fields in and around the antenna geometry. It being so, the studies and results reported in this dissertation are new.
