Relation between Oceanographic Condition and Longline Fishing Condition of BigeyeTuna in the Southeast Pacific Ocean off Chile in 1994

From April to September of 1994, the Japan Marine Fishery Resources ResearchCenter as part of the GASTRO new resource development survey, experimented with tuna longlines off the coast of Chile and made salinity-temperature-depth (STD) observations. The objectives of this report are to examine the relationship between bigeye tuna catches and the ocean environment, using data from that survey and also providing guidance regarding fishing ground scouting methods.
