Application Portability Profile (APP): The U.S. Government's Open SystemEnvironment Profile Version 3.0

The report is designed to provide recommendations on a variety of specificationsthat will generally fit the requirements of U.S. government information systems. As the U.S. Government's Open System Environment (OSE) profile, the guidance is provided to assist Federal agencies in making informed choices regarding the selection and use of OSE specifications, and in the development of more selective application profiles based on the APP. It is directed toward managers and project leaders who have the responsibilities of acquiring, developing, and maintaining information systems supported by heterogeneous application platform environments.
