Creel Survey Lake Winnibigoshish and Connected Waters, 1995 Summer and 1995-96Winter. Completion Report

Summer (May 13 - October 17) and winter (December 1 - April 9) creel surveys wereconducted on Winnibigoshish, Cut Foot Sioux, and Little Cut Foot Sioux Lakes during the 1995-96 fishing season. The primary objectives of these creel surveys were to obtain quantitative estimates of total fishing pressure, total harvest, harvest rates, and to document changes in the sport fishery since the 1930's. Estimates of summer angling pressure, harvest and related standard errors were computed forboth lakes combined. Estimates of winter angling pressure, harvest, and related standard errors were computed for each lake. Estimated summer and winter angling pressure decreassed from record high levels observed during the 1994-95 angling season. Summer harvest rates from walleye increased 60 percent from the record low level observed in 1994. The total yield of walleye increased to a lesser extent than harvest rates (13 percent) due to the decrease in angler pressure and decreased mean weight.
