During the five years of the project, experimental hydrate equilibrium data forpropane, carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulphide and their mixtures have been obtained in several aqueous solutions containing electrolytes and/or solvents like methanol and ethylene glycol. In addition, a literature discrepancy related to propane hydrate data in 10% NaCl solution has been resolved by obtaining fresh experimental data with two different experimental procedures and by comparing the experimental data with predictions using a thermodynamically rigorous method. A number of thermodynamic models for systems containing mixed solvents and electrolytes were reviewed. Of these, two models were integrated with a hydrate prediction method. One model was found to be satisfactory for engineering calculations. Experimental kinetic data on hydrate nucleation were successfully modelled. A unified approach for describing the kinetics of hydrate nucleation, growth and decomposition was presented.
