Location of Preferred Walleye ('Stizostedion vitreum') Spawning Habitat in LakeMinnewaska as Determined by Radio Telemetry. Completion Report

Radio-telemetry was utilized to monitor walleye (Stizostedion vitreum) movementand locate and evaluate walleye spawning sites in Lake Mimewaska, Pope County, Minnesota during the springs of 1995 and 1996. Seven specific spawning sites were located both in-lake and within inlets to the lake. Spawning site substrate ranged from sand to gravel to rubble with Chara spp. as the dominant vegetative cover type at these sites. Extensive movement was documented for both years with several examples of homing exhibited.
