摘要

The project was a Class III cultural resource inventory of 623 acres alongColorado Forest Highway 59 in Gunnison County, Colorado. The Federal Highway Administration intends to improve this road and reroute certain portions of it near Cottonwood pass. A total of eight isolated finds and two sites were recorded in the project area. Site 5GN2648 is a historic aqueduct that runs parallel to the highway between mileposts 2.2 and 2.4. It is recommended that this site be considered ineligible for NRHP status. Site 5GN2664 is a historic road, possibly the old Wood stage line, located near the summit of Cottonwood Pass. This site is recommended ineligible due to the lack of good locational data on the stage lines in this area.
