The Fram Strait Acoustic Monitoring for Ocean Climate Studies Workshop was heldat the NOAA Environmental Technology Laboratory in Boulder, Colorado, on September 25-26, 1996. The workshop was convened to discuss and develop a prioritized scientific plan focused on a systems approach to the oceanographic investigation of the Fram Strait. Major topics discussed during the workshop included: monitoring of heat and water mass influx through the Fram Strait as part of a general problem of Arctic warming; acoustic tomography monitoring of the Fram Strait; monitoring of flux into the Arctic; and planning of a pilot experiment and feasibility test.
