The primary goals of that study were to investigate the effects on safety-related211u001edriving performance of the primary factors commonly thought to lead to the 211u001edevelopment of fatigue and loss of alertness of commercial vehicle drivers; to 211u001einvestigate the relative importance of their effects; to establish objective and 211u001emeasurable relationships between the primary fatigue-producing factors and 211u001edriving performance; and to identify effective and efficient countermeasures 211u001ebased on the study's findings. The DFAS included an extensive literature review 211u001eand field data collection that were reported by Wylie, et al. 1996.
