摘要

The project is the Phase 1, Architectural Reconnaissance and Survey of historicresources located along the Tug Fork River and its tributaries in McDowell County, West Virginia, for the Huntington District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Huntington, West Virginia. The Corps proposes a plan of flood control in the areas affected by the April 1977 flood on the Tug Fork of the Big Sandy River. The recommended plan consists of a voluntary program of floodproofing eligible strucures where possible and acquiring structures where floodproofing is not practical. The project area begins along the northern end of Welch, the county seat, extending south and west along the Tug Fork and Dry Fork and their tributaries, including the Upper Dry Fork, Browns Creek, Panther Creek, Bradshaw Creek, Barrenshe Creek, and Little Slate Creek.
