Tactical Evaluation of New Military Systems Using Distributed Modelling and211 Simulation (Taktisk Utvaerdering av Nya Militaera System med Hjaelp av 211 Distribuerad Modellering och Simulering)

In this paper, the authors describe techniques and methods for supporting field211u001eexperiments with simulated components embedded in real military units. The 211u001eauthors show how a Battle Monitoring system with mobile nodes for data collection 211u001eand simulation is used to both simulate the components subject to evaluation and 211u001eto record data from the field trial for subsequent analysis and assessment. To 211u001efurther illustrate the author's method, the authors give two examples: a virtual 211u001ewarning system and a virtual electronic warfare jammer. In the author's first 211u001eexample, they demonstrate a way to evaluate how laser warning capabilities affect 211u001ethe tactical behavior of a unit. The second example describes a method to 211u001esimulate the effect of electronic warfare in tactical situations, using jamming 211u001emodels of different complexity, without emitting any radio signals.
