Hazardous Waste: Unaddressed Risks at Many Potential Superfund Sites

You requested that we survey EPA regions, other federal agencies, and the states211u001eto (1) determine the number of sites classified as awaiting a National Priorities 211u001eList decision that remain potentially eligible for the list; (2) describe the 211u001echaracteristics of these sites, including their health and environmental risks; 211u001e(3) determine the status of any actions to clean up these sites; and (4) collect 211u001ethe opinions of EPA and other federal and state officials on the likely final 211u001edisposition of these sites, including the number of sites that are expected to be 211u001eadded to the National Priorities List. This report summarizes the information 211u001eobtained from our surveys.
