The behavior of a structure after it has reached the stability limit is211u001eessentially a transient phenomenon. In the past, this aspect was simply ignored, 211u001ebecause it was thought that beyond the stability limit, the structure could no 211u001elonger be servicable. It has become clear however, that a transient analysis as a 211u001esupplement to the classical quasi-static analysis is often desirable and 211u001esometimes necessary, because otherwise no satisfactory solution can be obtained. 211u001eIn order to simulate these jumps, the implicit transient macro-processor in B2000 211u001ehas been updated. The result, B2TRANS, is capable of calculating boy linear and 211u001enonlinear dynamic responses of structures. The nonlinear equations of motion in 211u001ethis macro-processor are solved using Park's linear multistep method. The pre-211u001ebuckling trajectory is calculated with the original path-following technique as 211u001eimplemented in B2CONT.
