Path-Following Methods for Contact Analysis

The use of pathfollowing methods in contact problems requires special adaptation211u001ein orders to work properly. This report describes the implementation of such of 211u001emethod in the MARC code. The special points of consideration are the 211u001ediscontinuous points that are encountered in the continuation when contact occurs 211u001eand the problem of the changing set of degrees of freedom. Also discussed are two 211u001eparticular implementations of the arclength method that have a marked influence 211u001eon the robustness of the resulting algorithm.
