Historical Contamination of Mississippi River Delta, Tampa Bay, and Galveston Bay211 Sediments. National Status and Trends Program for Marine Environmental Quality

In order to obtain sediment which has accumulated over the past 100 years or so,211u001e50-80 cm long sediment cores were collected from the submarine Mississippi River 211u001eDelta, Galveston Bay, Texas and Tampa Bay, Florida. The cores were extruded and 211u001esliced into 1 cm thick sections which were then radiometrically age dated and 211u001eanalyzed for those organic compounds and trace metals suspected of being 211u001econtaminants in the sampling areas.
