Atlas of Minerals and Related Phases in Unaltered and Thermally Altered Materials211 from the Rocky Mountain 1 Underground Coal Gasification Field Site

This document provides information, data, and insights that will be particularly211u001euseful in identifying and establishing the significance of mineral, quasi-211u001eamorphous, and amorphous phases in geological materials recovered as part of 211u001efuture efforts to select suitable underground coal gasification (UCG) sites, 211u001edesign, and conduct successful UCG operations, and evaluate those operations 211u001eafter they have been completed. This compilation is intended to provide users 211u001ewith diagnostics and Rocky Mountain 1 (RM1) characterization results that, 211u001etogether, enable them to make soundly based preliminary decisions regarding the 211u001eidentity and significance of individual phases that are the same as, or related 211u001eto, those found in the RM1 study materials. Specifically, the document consists 211u001eprimarily of 52 alphabetically arranged sections in which the 63 phases 211u001eidentified in the RM1 pre-and posttest study materials are treated in a 211u001econsistent, user-friendly format. A companion report involving the same authors 211u001ereviews the design, conduct, and results of the characterization activities that 211u001eserved as the basis for the development of this document.
