摘要

Proportional hazards survival analyses were performed to assess mortality as a211u001efunction of health insurance status using data from the 1987 National Medical 211u001eExpenditure Survey (NMES), a large representative cohort of US civilian 211u001epopulation. Deaths through 1992 were ascertained by linkage to the National Death 211u001eIndex (NDI). The NMES recorded a wide range of access to care variables including 211u001esociodemographics, self-rated health, smoking status, obesity, identification of 211u001ea personal physician, and health care utilization and expenditures which allowed 211u001eadjustment for potential confounding and effect modification.
