The five essays presented represent the output of a course devoted to routing211u001esystems in tactical mobile radio networks at the Swedish Defense Research 211u001eEstablishment. The purpose of the report is to reflect the current state of 211u001eresearch in the area and to point out open problems, essential for the 211u001efulfillment of the tacticle demnds on a mobile radio network. The authors' 211u001eapproach is to view a selection of potential routing methods and techniques with 211u001erespect to the requirements put on a tactical mobile network. The routing system 211u001edetermines and controls traffic flow in the network. It is responsible for 211u001eproviding the appropriate level of service according to the current traffic load 211u001ein the network. It must be able to handle mobility such that the communication 211u001ebetween endpoints is not interrupted. In a tactical mobile network, the routing 211u001esystem must withstand rapid and unexpected changes in the network topology.
