Coalescing Binary Systems: An Effective Metric Approach

In order to have a more reliable description of the final stage of evolution of a211u001ebinary system, the authors 'reduce' the two-body problem in general relativity to 211u001ean auxilliary one-body one. The effective description defines a particular re-211u001esummation of the original post-Newtonian expanded dynamics and should be able to 211u001especify some non-perturbative characterisics of the evolution of a binary system 211u001eas the existence of the innermost stable circular orbit.
