摘要

An investigation of how the residual stress of a welded pipe contributes to the211u001eCTOD and the J-integral has been performed. Many experiments show that for 211u001eductile materials and high L(sub r) values the contribution from the residual 211u001estress to the risk of fracture is neglibible. The objective of the present 211u001enumerical analyses is to investigate how the weld residual stresses interact with 211u001eother types of stresses and if possible give some recommendations on how to treat 211u001eweld residual stresses in fracture assessments. The welding process has been 211u001esimulated according to generally accepted methods in order to obtain a proper 211u001eplastic strain field. The results imply that although the relative contribution 211u001eof the residual stress to fracture decreases rapidly for high L(sub r), the 211u001eresidual stress still makes a contribution even for quite high loads.
