摘要

Because correct and useful information is vital to the success of the211u001eMedicare+Choice program, you asked to assess (1) the extent to which MCOS' member 211u001eliterature provides beneficiaries with accurate and useful plan information and 211u001e(2) whether HCFA's review process ensures that beneficiaries can rely on managed 211u001ecare organizations' member literature to make informed enrollment decisions. To 211u001eaddress these issues, we assessed the accuracy, timeliness, completeness, and 211u001ecomparability of the member literature of 16 MCOS and studied Health Care 211u001eFinancing Administration's requirements and practices for reviewing and approving 211u001ethese materials. Our analysis focused on three benefits that vary in complexity: 211u001eannual screening mammography, outpatient prescription drugs, and ambulance 211u001etransportation.
