摘要

Studies of vegetation and aquatic invertebrates were initiated in 1994 following211u001ethe Great Flood of 1993. Attached are two completion reports that involved final 211u001eresults from vegetation and invertebrate investigations. Seed bank sampling 211u001einitially was conducted in remnant, connected, and isolated basins (1994-98), and 211u001eseedling emergence was used to determine plant composition for comparison to 211u001efield sampling. Additional vegetation sampling during 1996-98 included wooded 211u001esloughs, and farmed and unfarmed temporary wetlands. Invertebrate sampling among 211u001ethe same years and habitat types involved activity traps, emergence traps, and 211u001eartificial substrates. In total, 250 plant species were detected in seed bank and 211u001evegetation sampling; the majority (55%) were wetland species. Invertebrate 211u001esampling resulted in 97 families. Vegetation and invertebrate species richness 211u001ewas highest in wooded sloughs (145 species and an annual average of 55 families, 211u001erespectively). Vegetation similarity was greatest in 1994 and declined until 1998 211u001ewhen species in seed banks from 1994 and vegetation sampling in 1998 were more 211u001ecomparable.
