In this study, hot mix asphalt (HMA) specimens with and without crumb rubber211u001emodifier (CRM) were analyzed for different environmental conditions. The CRM was 211u001eadded to HMA through both the wet and dry process. Cylindrical specimens were 211u001etested in the Particle Entrainment System (PES) at two different temperatures and 211u001ethree different pH levels. Runoff was also tested from slab and chip seal 211u001especimens subjected to light, wear, and simulated rainfall. Water samples were 211u001ecollected in three phases: (1) water quality extraction of individual CRM 211u001esamples, (2) water quality evaluation for cylindrical HMA specimens at varying 211u001eenvironmental conditions (pH and temperature); and (3) water quality evaluation 211u001efor slab HMA and chip seal speciments under simulated rainfall. Collected water 211u001esamples were tested for trace metals and organics. A total of six metals were 211u001eanalyzed in the laboratory, i.e., Cr, Pb, Ni, Cu, Cd, and Zn. Based on the 211u001elimited scope of this effort and comparison with water quality criteria, it 211u001eappears that there is no evidence in this study that there will be detrimental 211u001eeffect on the environment or to human health.
