California MultiCultural Health Information Institute Annual Conference (1st).Abstract, Executive Summary, Final Report and 2 Attachments of Conference. Held in Oakland, California on May 26-28, 1999

The Public Health Institute covered the first California Multicultural HealthInformation (MCHII) Symposium from May 26 to 28, 1999 at Preservation Park, Oakland, California with support from the Agency for Health Care Policy Research, the federal Office of Minority Health. The California Endowment, The California Wellness Foundation, the California Healthcare Foundation, and Kaiser Permanente. The Public Health Institute partnered with the California Pan-Ethnic Health Network (CPEHN) to convene the Symposium. CPEHN provided ongoing access to ethnic health networks and community based organizations. The Symposium helped launched the MCHI, developed the concept for a Multicultural Health Information Institute Resource Center and its technical assistance capacity, and contributed ideas to the design and implementation of an Institute web site to improve multicultural health statistics, data and information accessibility. The Symposium, as well as the Multicultural Health Information Institute, has been developed through a collaborative effort between government, community, and research and academic sectors. Of the 20 topical sessions, 12 had substantial research relevance.
