摘要

The study showed that time of disturbance relative to seasonal reproductiveevents of major space-occupying species affected the time required for recovery. The intertidal community required longer to recover from summer and fall disturbances than from spring disturbances because the latter occurred just prior to peak barnacle larval settlement. Early barnacle recruitment appeared to be a critical element in recovery rates. Not all end points were reached during the three-year study so it was recommended that studies of this type be conducted over a 5-10 year period.
