Water samples collected from 30 wells throughout the Blue Ridge Physiographic Province in the New River Basin of North Carolina and Virginia were analyzed for a wide range of constituents including bacteria, common ions, nutrients, trace metal, radon, pesticides, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Most constituents detected were present at concentrations less than the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) maximum contaminant level (MCL) or secondary maximum contaminant level (SMCL) drinking-water standards.
