Deciduous Fruit: World Markets and Trade, 2009 Highlights for Select Southern Hemisphere Countries, June 2008

The Southern Hemisphere primarily comprises four reporting countries; Argentina, Chile, New Zealand, and South Africa. Deciduous fruit production (apples, pears, table grapes) is forecast to increase 1 percent to 6.5 million tons. Total fruit exports are expected to be up 2 percent to 3.5 million tons reflecting stronger prices on international markets. Apple juice production is expected to grow 2 percent to 159 million tons. Apple juice exports are expected to be unchanged from the previous year, at 119 million tons.
