摘要

There is an undisputable evidence that environmental quality has a relevant bearing on human health. According to some observers (e.g. sociologist Ulrich Beck), in the new modernity the social production of wealth goes systematically hand in hand with the social production of risk, and we seem to face an increasing number of risk factors that may be difficult to identify. The multifactorial origins of many environment-associated diseases require the implementation of more effective measures of primary prevention. The aim of the Meeting is to focus on emerging issues of environmental ethiology, relevant to future well-being of humans and likely to become a challenge. The target of the event is then to define emerging health and environmental problems and provide hints for preventive actions and management. The Meeting agenda includes a cluster of different issues such as the impact of climate changes on health, Persistant Organic Pollutants (POPs) and reproductive health, urban indoor air quality, health risks and biomarkers, emerging pathogenic microorganisms, neurodegenerative diseases and the environment, waste management, the impact of agricultural activities on the environment and health. The following Round Tables are also scheduled: Goods globalization: which threats for human health; and Risk perception and risk communication.
