The question of the corrosiveness to copper of some electrical varnishes has arisen. Since none of the copper corrosion tests in routine use at present are sufficiently precise for the purpose, the development of a new procedure was indicated.n This report describes two procedures which are designed to give quantitative corrosion data for wet varnishes. One procedure is a service simulating test while the other is a control test in which the corrosion rate has been greatly accelerated. Both methods yield comparable results. The second method proved to be highly reproducible and is recommended for consideration as an acceptance test procedure.
