This report discusses the philosophy of a-j. receiver design at this laboratory. All discussions are of a very general qual¬itative nature with almost no mathematics being used. They ore purposely made very general and qualitative since the purpose of this paper is distinctly not to form a basis for actual design, but rather to familiarize the engineer with the requirements which must be met in an a-J receiver and the general circuits used to meet them. Actual circuit details and component parts values are left to other authors.nThe paper starts with discussion of the requirements which must be met by the receiver. This is followed by n discussion of some of the protective circuits including a discussion of the reasons for choosing the particular circuits used at this laboratory.
