The report summarizes the result of an investigation made in 1941 at the direction of the direction of the Germany Office for Economic Devel-opment to determine the economic limits of a-b and d-e trans¬mission by cable and overhead lines over lone listances. Volt¬ages of 220 kv, a-c; 4O0 kv, a-e; 650 kv, i-c; and 800 kv, d-o were considered. Tables are included covering (1) voltages, power factors, power losses, and overall efficiency; (2) limits of power and capacity utilized with uniform total load among transmitting systems; (3) estimated unit in¬stallation costs; (4) transmission costs for three annual times of utilization; (5) relative material requirements, and (6) specific material requirements.
