CASCADE BACKWARD-WAVE AMPLIFIER WTTH DTIFT TUBE OR THIRD HELIX TRANSDUCER

This paper deals with a composite form of the backward-wave amplifier in which energy is transferred from a circuit nave to an electron beam by one helix and reconverted again to a circuit wave by a second, isolated helix. In between the input and output helices, there can in general be a "transducer, "used to make any changes in the beam modulation which may be desired. Theoretical analyses and experimental results are given for the two cases of a drift-tube transducer and a helical transducer.
