Past wars have shown that military operations are not confined to improved roads. A tremendous military advantage is gained by the army whose vehicles are able to operate when others fail. Therefore, military vehicles of the future are expected to possess an inherent capability of full-load operation over any form of unimproved road and, in many instances, over off-road terrain.
