Three hundred and fifty-five ROTC students were tested for maximum strength and endurance of pushing, with and without an arm and shoulder harness simulating clothing restriction, and for maximum strength and endurance of five types of grip chosen to represent the effect of hand-wear upon grip formation. The results indicated decrements in maximum strength and endurance of pushing due to clothing restriction as well as in the strength and endurance advantage of the normal grip over three types of grips simulating headwear effect; there was also some indication of strength differences related to age. Positive correlations of strength were found between several of the grip types.
