摘要

This research is concerned with the experimental re-validation of the picture interpretation technique developed by McClelland et al. (4) for measuring achievement motivation. A 12-picture form of the test was administered to two groups of male college freshmen, one of which was tested under “relaxed” conditions, and the other under “achievement-orienting” conditions designed to experimentally arouse the achievement motive.nThe results confirm the previously reported “experimental” or “theoretical” validity of the Picture Interpretation Test. In terms of its capacity to differentiate significantly on a total score basis between subjects who were “relaxed” and “aroused” with regard to their achievement motivational state.
