Optimization of Space Vehicle Design with Respect to Propulsion System

The best vehicle design solution can be achieved only by considering all components of the problem and optimizing overall cost factors, and this design may not necessarily incorporate the obviously optimum propulsion system. Nevertheless it is useful to consider individual parts of the optimization problem, not only to determine which is best from immediate considerations, but what penalties are incurred by departing from this optimum.
