T he techni¬cal approach was divided into four phases, which were the acquisition and installation of a suitable fuel injection bench test apparatus to study the effects of a JP-4 fuel in fuel injection systems; performance of bench tests using an American Bosch APE-6B and a Roosa Master Model D fuel injection pump; extended engine operations with a JP-4 fuel; and a comparison of deposit-forming tendencies of the JP-4 and diesel fuels using a CFR coker.
