BOUNDS FOR EIGENVALUES OF THE FREE AND FIXED MEMBRANE BY FINITE DIFFERENCE METHODS

摘要

This paper gives explicit upper and lower bounds for the eigenvalues of both the free and fixed membrane problems in terms of the eigenvalues of analogous finite difference problems. In each case the difference between the upper and lower bounds is of the order of the mesh width.
