Project Mohole Armored Hose, Retractor, Turbodrill Drilling System

Used with a down-hole motor, such as a turbodrill, the Armored Hose and Retractor System provides: (1) a means of making fast trips in or out of the hole, (2) a flexible drill stem with torsional resistance and, (3) a method of drilling and coring that saves operational time. The cost of this equipment is estimated at $3.6 million. If the Mohole were drilled totally with the Armored Hose, it is estimated that savings of $2.4 million would result from reduced trip time alone. (Author)
