Finite Element Analysis of Tubular Joints: A Report on a Feasibility Study

The investigation was to determine the accuracy and reliability of an existing finite element shell analysis program in the evaluation of stresses and deflections in typical tubular joints. The quality of the finite element solutions was established by comparison of its results with those obtained by another analytical procedure (a cylindrical shell program) as well as with one set of experimental results obtained by Toprac.
