The most promising Dipel and Thuricide forestry spray formulations and spray equipment were studied to improve aerial application techniques and the effectiveness of Bacillus thuringiensis against forest insects. A fixed-wing aircraft, equipped with T8010 nozzles, was used to apply each formulation containing about 8 billion international Units of Bacillus thuringiensis per 2 gallons per acre to potted Douglas-fir, Pseudotsuga Menziesii, trees. These trees were placed at 10-foot intervals across the spray swath and were subsequently bioassayed with test insects.
