Scale Up Study on Several Enzymatic Processes for Industrial Application.

This document reports results of the following program objectives: (1) a pilot plant and supporting laboratory investigation of the conversion of starch dextrin to glucose with glucoamylase immobilized to porous silica; (2) a theoretical and experimental study of the effects of pore diffusion limitation on the activity and selectivity of immobilized glucoamylase with dextrin feed; (3) a theoretical study of the effect of pore diffusion limitation on the stability of heterogeneous catalysts or immobilized enzymes; (4) the immobilization and characterization of mutarotase; (5) experimental use of mixed immobilized glucoamylase and glucose isomerase,where fructose was produced from either maltose or dextrin; (6) theoretical optimization of the operation of an immobilized two-enzyme reactor undergoing decay; (7) immobilization and characterization of beta-amylase;and (8) production,purification,immobilization,and characterization of dextransucrase. Each of the preceding objectives is covered in a separate chapter in the report.
