This document is one of a series of teaching documents developed to help instructors present health and safety training courses to workers in the metal and nonmetal mining industry. This manual will be used by the students in a course that will assist them in performing their work safely and healthfully. An instructor's guide entitled, 'Airborne Contaminants in Above Ground Metal and Nonmetal Mining and Processing Work Areas,'shall be used by the instructors. The unique features of the manual are thumb rules for recognizing hazardous situations,candidate contaminants for each work area,and descriptions of control devices and work procedures.
