This manual describes a method of structural analysis,design and analysis of costs for the determination of strengthening of existing multi-story residential buildings to conform to the basic earthquake force requirements of the 1973Uniform Building Code. The report is presented in three volumes,namely,Volume I -Methodology,Volume II -Computer Users'Manual,and Volume III -Examples. The examples in Volume III illustrate both simplified and more complex evaluation of stress distribution in different types of multi-story residences.
