Phosphorus and Organic Matter Discharged by Finnish Rivers to the Baltic Sea (Suomen Jokivesien Itaemereen Kuljettama Fosfori ja Orgaaninen Aine)

The amounts of phosphorus and organic matter discharged by Finnish rivers to the Baltic Sea are evaluated; as well as the discharges of nitrogen, suspended solids and electrolytes. The data comprises daily streamflow observations and analyses of 820 water samples from the estuaries of 21 rivers for the period 1974-1976. The differences in the amounts of matter discharged annually primarily reflect the variation in the streamflow. The parameters humic color, iron and phosphorus are clearly interrelated.
