Larch Casebearer in Western Larch Forests

摘要

The larch casebearer was discovered in western larch forests in Idaho in 1957 and now infests most of the botanical range of its host species. Damage consists mainly of severely reduced growth in increment, although tree mortality has occurred when infestations have persisted for more than 5 years. Biological control of the casebearer by introducing exotic parasites is advocated in the report, however insecticides may be used also.
