This is the final volume of a six-part series reporting statistics from the 1977 Annual Housing Survey for the U.S. by inside and outside standard metropolitan statistical areas and each of the four geographic regions. The statistics are cross-tabulations of financial characteristics by indicators of housing and neighborhood quality. The data were obtained by personal interview from a sample of 77,000 housing units located throughout the country. The tables in this report present cross-tabulations of the data for occupied units for each geographic area and indicate housing and neighborhood quality by income, value, and gross rent. Presented in the tables are characteristics of owner-occupied and renter-occupied housing units by income of the family or primary individual, characteristics of owner-occupied, one-family homes by value of property, and characteristics of renter-occupied housing units by gross rent. The same subject content is presented for households with black and Hispanic household heads.
