Livestock Economy in Egypt: An Appraisal of the Current Situation

There has been very little in-depth research on Egypt's important livestock sector; the livestock data base is reputed to be one of the weakest components of Egyptian agricultural statistics. Government policies have tended to be spur-of-the-moment responses to crises, offering little hope of remedying Egypt's livestock problem in the long run. Yet, policy makers if they are to take effective action to improve the sector need to be appraised of the performance of policies of the past.
