Reservoir Release Water Quality Improvement by Localized Destratification

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the performance of the axial flow, Garton pump as a means of improving release water quality from reservoirs which experience thermal stratification and are not equipped with multi-level withdrawal structures. Study objectives were: (1) to identify optimum pump performance by varying reservoir release rate with respect to pump discharge rate, and (2) to evaluate pump performance by varying pump propellor diameter.
